How I found power in God’s Strength

2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.

This verse hits me especially hard when it comes to my life because I know that he has done things in my life that I am powerless in. His divine power entered my life and removed a lifestyle from me that I was unable to remove on my own strength. In 2002, as a young Christian, I was a freshman in College and somehow put myself in an environment that included alcohol. This didn’t happen once or twice, but throughout my freshman year. By the end of the year, I had probably spent more time at parties then the classes I was supposed to attend.

God’s exceptional power entered my life. He intervened in such a way that put a sudden stop to the past I had lived in. One night, back in my hometown, I heard “What are you doing?” It may have been my conscience, but I believe this was God intervening in my life. What are you doing that is glorifying to God right now? What are you doing in this situation? What are you doing… God hit me hard with this statement and the power he used to turn my life upside down is unsurpassed by me, anyone, or anything.

Before this point, my view of salvation was distant. I knew I was a sinner, but I thought I was still good on my own power. What I thought was power was in fact weakness and sin. God took my weakness and showed his power through it! This is why I am blogging about Christ. Christ used his power in my life and I want his power to be made known to those who haven’t experienced it.

If you are overwhelmed by your inequities, you need to know that despite those inequities, you were made in the image of God and for His purpose. You are perfect in his eyes, but sin has clouded that perfection. At this point you are not perfect unless you know Christ and he knows you. If you have questions about our need for Christ, please comment below and I would be more than willing to help answer it!
